An English Learning App for Adult U.S. Immigrants (2025-Current)
Designed and developed an AI-powered language learning app for adult LEP learners, turning real articles into interactive lessons with listening support, vocabulary saving, contextual definitions, and private speaking practice. Translated user research and expert feedback into core product decisions, including a single-column feed, voice-first AI practice, contextual word support, and a calm, mature visual system.

Development Reflection & Next Step
Through experts feedback and initial user testing, SpeakEasy’s core learning structure was validated as a promising direction. The next step is to strengthen the content experience so the product can better support immigrant learners in real-life situations.
One of the biggest opportunities is finding content that feels practical and truly useful. Instead of generic English articles, we want SpeakEasy to help learners practice with everyday topics they actually need, such as getting a driver’s license, renewing car registration, preparing for interviews, reading school forms, or understanding workplace communication.
In the following months, we will continue exploring reliable and engaging content-generation methods, APIs, and curated sources. Our next goal is to help SpeakEasy grow from an AI learning tool into a practical companion for immigrants navigating daily life in the U.S.!
